I'm working on another baby quilt. Another one of my co-workers and his wife are expecting a boy in September.
I'm using another Jaybird quilts pattern that is made even easier if you get the "lazy angle" ruler (which I did buy) rather than use a template. This pattern is even easier to put together than the last one.
I decided on a 2 tone blue and green color scheme rather than the multicolored one on the pattern cover. Pictured below are 24 of the 48 blocks. I am considering adding a border and plan to use one the blue plaids for the backing.
Horizontal Surfaces
Quilting
My mom says that if there is an empty horizontal surface that I will fill it up... and lately i've been doing so with quilting stuff...

Finished quilt for Baby Renee
I got the quilt finished! Overall I really like how it came out.
It's an overcast day in Seattle, so the greens in the pictures are not looking as vibrant as they do in real life. As you can see on the back my straight line quilting wasn't my best, but I can live with it.
I loved how the flange binding came out using a striped fabric.
I didn't have time to do a fancy label, so I just wrote on the binding.
I used some of the leftover binding fabrics and some ribbon I had on hand to decorate some hand towels to use as burp towels.
Once again the green is prettier in real life. I don't know why this picture is posting sideways because it's actually oriented correctly in the folder... must be a blogger glitch because I've noticed some other sideways picts on other blogs the last few days.

Prepping to pin baste
Quilt top completed, just prepping it to pin baste it. I need to finish it this weekend so it'll be ready for the baby shower next week. Overall I think it looks pretty cute, might have picked a couple different fabrics if I had to do over... but doesn't bother me enough to actually do over a couple blocks :)

Works in progress...
I took these picts a while back (before baby) but never posted them...
Zig zag quilt still hasn't progressed beyond this. I started it to use up the left overs from my other xmas quilt and wanted to use up the black charms, but now I don't like the black in the quilt. I might try sewing some ric rac on it to break up the black a little...
I started making this quilt summer 2011 in Wichita...
I'm actually almost done with the center of the quilt (just have to sew the last 2 rows together and add a border). I decided to give it to one of my friends (a co-worker) who is having a girl in June.

Another Baby Quilt
This is for a baby who is now 4 months old... it's like 37 x 37 inches... might be more of a lap quilt for him now :) I was in a hurry and tried machine binding it. As you can see from the last picture I wasn't very successful in getting the fabric in the corner. I ended up doing some patching by hand. Overall faster than hand binding, but if I have the time I still prefer hand binding.

April progess...
Finally finished the top :)
Backing fabric that KEM picked.
Just to give you an idea of the scale of the print in relation to the top.
I got most of Naveen's Halloween quilt cut aside from the sashing and started piecing a few blocks.
Baby boy ABC quilt. Rows are finished, just working on the sashing and attaching the rows together. This baby is due in June... and as you can see, it will be more of a toddler/little boy quilt... or maybe a huge quilt to lay on when he starts to learn to roll/crawl :) I got committed to making it big due to the size of the ABC panel's squares and the pattern I picked. I have the same fabrics in pink and might do a girl one too...
