My mom says that if there is an empty horizontal surface that I will fill it up... and lately i've been doing so with quilting stuff...

Another Baby Quilt

This is for a baby who is now 4 months old... it's like 37 x 37 inches... might be more of a lap quilt for him now :) I was in a hurry and tried machine binding it. As you can see from the last picture I wasn't very successful in getting the fabric in the corner. I ended up doing some patching by hand. Overall faster than hand binding, but if I have the time I still prefer hand binding.

April progess...

Finally finished the top :)

Backing fabric that KEM picked.

Just to give you an idea of the scale of the print in relation to the top.

I got most of Naveen's Halloween quilt cut aside from the sashing and started piecing a few blocks.

Baby boy ABC quilt. Rows are finished, just working on the sashing and attaching the rows together. This baby is due in June... and as you can see, it will be more of a toddler/little boy quilt... or maybe a huge quilt to lay on when he starts to learn to roll/crawl :) I got committed to making it big due to the size of the ABC panel's squares and the pattern I picked. I have the same fabrics in pink and might do a girl one too...

Finish and Zig Zag

Finally finished the binding the Berry Delicious Jelly Girl quilt. I have 2 friends expecting babies this summer... hopefully at least one will be a girl.

I had a bunch of white and black caroler charm squares left plus some yardage, so I decided to make a zig zag quilt with the left overs.

KEM's Halloween quilt rows...

I finally got all the rows done for KEM's Halloween quilt. And the top 8 rows are fully connected. I'm going with a different pattern for NEM's, but same fabrics except different sashing fabric. This one got too boring, though I like how it looks. I think NEM will be lucky if he gets his by 2012 :) I want to straight line quilt this one by myself... but basting it is going to a be a total pain since I don't have a great space to lay it out that isn't carpeted...

Binding experimentation...

I started working on the Hello Betty binding. I read a tutorial a while back on a flange(sp?) / piped binding and thought I'd give it a try. I like how it looks, however, next time I need to remember to increase the width of my binding strips by 1/8th of an inch otherwise the binding is too tight especially at the corners because of the excess fabric from the flange.

February 12...

When I started this I just pulled the solid yellow from my stash. However I miscalculated when i added one more row of blocks to the quilt and I now realize that I don't have enough for a 4 inch yellow border. I'm leaning towards buying some more... the other option would be to shrink the border to 2.5 - 3 inches. It's a moda bella solid, so it should be easy to find. But I don't know exactly which online store I got it from. My only worry is I would get it and it wouldn't be a perfect match b/c it was from a different dye lot...

Pastel projects...

Well, I still haven't gotten the binding on, but I did cut off all the excess batting and backing...

I'm working on a baby boy quilt using the boyish fabrics from a "Love U" jelly roll.

I got quite a bit done on the Verna quilt top. 36 blocks made, pressed, squared to 9x9 inches and sashing cut. The pattern has a 5 blocks by 6 blocks arrangement. I was going to make it 6 x 6 but then changed my mind to keep it rectangular and go with 5 x 7 blocks.

Works in progress... Jan 2011

After talking to Jordan today I was inspired to post something. Though until last weekend I hadn't really quilted any since my last post... except maybe a row or two on Kiran's Halloween quilt.

I got the Curve Master presser foot for x-mas. So I can so curves without using pins. I also long ago bought a Drunkard's Path template and a 28mm rotary cutter that I had never used...

I had a few Hello Betty charm squares left from the retro color scheme that I didn't care much for, so I thought I'd practice with them. Originally I thought I'd arrange the blocks 3X2 but then changed my mind midway and decided to go with a 6X1 table runner. However, now colorwise I don't like the block arrangement but I don't think it's worth the time to fix for a practice project...

I'm also starting to work on this pattern...

I used the ruler J&J gave me for x-mas to cut up a Moda Verna layer cake... If I like how it turns out I plan to use the pattern again. I think the pattern would be a good boy quilt pattern and I have a wintery fat quarter bundle that I want to use to make a pair of quilts for K & N. I also like the big pieces in this quilt for those fabrics that have large scale prints...

I cut some strips for binding my jelly girl quilt...

Kiran's winter coat got a rip in the outer layer of fabric so we bought an iron-on patch at Joanns that he picked out with a truck on it and I sewed it down... and that is the extent of my quilting/sewing :)
